Introduction:
I am a sports massage practitioner based at a physiotherapy practice in Cardiff. Part of a multi-disciplinary team, which includes physiotherapists and osteopaths, I work principally with private clients who have an interest in sport and/or physical activity. I have considerable experience of supporting athletes both at competition and during training and have been employed on many occasions to assist teams and specific events.
I am a member of the Sports Massage Association and serve as a member of the Technical Committee.
General:
Completed RSA Diploma in Sports Massage as a student of Sports Performance Services Ltd. Qualified as sports masseur in March 1994. Began career as full time sports massage practitioner April 1996. I have accumulated eleven years experience as principal tutor teaching theoretical and practical aspects of sports massage on the Sports Performance Services (Ltd) Diploma course, which was awarded by Oxford, Cambridge and RSA (OCR) until 2007. This programme became eligible for University Certificate of Advanced Professional Development (University of Teesside) in 2008. I regularly present to physiotherapy undergraduates at University of Wales Hospital (UHW), Cardiff and also lecture on the UHW ‘Masters’ programme. I am also employed by University of Wales Institute Cardiff as a lecturer on the BSc (Hons) degree programme – Sports Conditioning, Rehabilitation & Massage.
